Light Place the Plant Medium to Bright. No direct sunlight.
Temperature 60 to 80 oF.
Water Keep the plant modestly dry. Water, Every 4-5 days. No Standing water in a pot.
Humidity 50% to 80%.
Fertilizer A soluble fertilizer at ½ to ¼ teaspoon per gallon of water.
After Flowering Cut off the spike below the lowest flower.
Re-potting Every two years with fresh moss or wood chips.
Re-flowering Drop temperature to below 77 oF. New spike will form.

  • Why do you grow orchids?
  • Orchids are easy plants to care for in spite of their exotic allure. Orchids do not take up much space for their compactness.
    Nowadays, orchids are placed on your window or coffee table to enjoy their beauty.
    Orchids generally live long. Orchids, once, "Forbidden flowers" because of their shapes. Moreover, orchids were thought to be for the rich & famous. Especially, in Victorian times that orchids were only for royalty or wealthy aristocrats when they were very rare and expensive. Well. That was a long time ago.
    Today most people know that orchids can be purchased at an reasonable price for gifts for your family and friends.


  • Are the orchids hard to care for?
  • No. Orchids are easy to care for. Orchids need water, light, air and fertilizer like any other plants. So, I hope you will enjoy orchids as an interior décor & as wonderful gifts.


  • Can I grow orchids at my house?
  • Yes. Many orchids such as phalaenopsis orchids grow under the normal house temperature. Keep daytime temperature: 75 - 85 F.
    Nighttime temperature: 60 - 65 F. for the best results.
    Cymbidiums prefer cool temperature. Daytime: 60 - 80 F Night time: 50 -55 F. Place the platns near a cool window in the home for the best results.


  • Are orchids houseplants?
  • Yes. Orchids set the standards as houseplants because they are easy to care for. Cultivating orchids in your home can be your contribution to conserving these gifts of nature. Due to the growing destruction of rain forests, many orchids species have become endangered. So, recommend orchids as houseplants.


  • What is the easiest orchid to grow?
  • Phalaenopsis & dendrobium orchids are easy to grow among many orchids.


  • Do I need soil to grow orchids?
  • No. Orchids usually do not grow in soil. Orchids grow in sphagnum moss, bark mix, orchid woodchips and lava chips.


  • When should I repot orchids?
  • You should repot the orchid once every year or every 2 years as the moss or the bark that orchids are growing deteriorated or getting old.
